Jamie Hambly - Story --Over 100 pounds lost in a year

I Joined Stayin fit and Lovin It in October of 2009.  I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember.  This was my second attempt at losing weight.  I had lost about 60 pounds in 2005, only to be hit with life and job pressures causing me to gain it all back plus another 20 pounds.  After viewing pictures from my dream vacation to Hawaii in April of 2008, I knew I had to commit to being healthy once and for all.

I started my journey on Jan 7th 2009 weighing in at 230 pounds. YIKES. I joined Weight Watchers and a non-traditional gym and was able to lose 70 pounds and then I hit a rut.  I knew I needed something different.  I was terrified to walk in to what I dubbed a "real" gym, thinking I would be the only "Fat" girl surrounded by a bunch of really fit and skinny people.   I was so surprised by what I found.  Not only were the owners and trainers great, I discovered I was not the only overweight person committed to change.  Everyone made me feel comfortable and welcome. I started going to classes and group training sessions and was amazed by the results.  I may not have started at Stayin Fit and Lovin It, but I feel that I never would have made my goals without this gym.

On January 20, 2010 I reached my goal weight of 130 pounds.  That is 100 pounds in just over a year.  I am in the best shape of my life.  Not only did I lose the weight, this gym has helped me tone up and gain muscles I never even knew I had.  I have lost even more weight since then.  The best part of this journey, however, has been that my family, my kids, LOVE THIS GYM.  They look forward to coming and joining in classes with me and their friends.  This gym is Family Friendly!

So in Closing I have to give special thanks to Jenny Lewis and Meg Greenlee.  I love you both so much and I credit both of you with helping me become the person I always wanted to be.  I consider both of you to be dear friends, not just my trainers.  You encourage and push me daily to be my best.  Keep it up girls!  There are so many others whom need your help.

Sincerely,
Jamie Hambly

Kathy Weber’s Story

42 years old, a wife and mother, and entering my first figure competition.

How did I get here?
My story is one that I can hardly believe myself.
10 months prior to my 1st competition I had decided I needed to get in better shape in order to keep up with my son who was approaching his 4th birthday. The funny thing was I wasn’t exactly sure how I was going to do this. I was already fairly active, however knew that I was not what I use to be. I had also mentioned to a friend that I had always wanted to do a “body building” competition.
The rest is fate.

My son was enrolled in gymnastics once a week, at Gymnastics Etc, in Elizabeth Colorado. I would sit and watch him for an hour while his group was in session. In January 2009, Stayin Fit and Lovin It with Jenny Lewis! rented a space in the same gym and started offering group training. Several of the mothers, including myself enrolled. I worked out with Jenny once a week. At the time I did not know how accomplished Jenny was as a figure competitor herself. Soon the friend I had told about wanting to compete, passed along my dream to Jenny. We talked about it. I had asked if she even thought it was possible. She said “yes”, with no reservation at all. I worked out once a week until March. I could not believe how out of shape I really was. 148 pounds and ~33% body fat (YIKES). I then stepped up my works outs to 2 x per week in March. In June, 3 days a week…July, 5 days a week, until I was in full training mode in August.

At that time Jenny thought I was finally ready to start my pre-contest preparations!  This really wasn’t a simple journey. It has taken a great deal of commitment, continued support and flexibility from my husband, son, and trainer, and a self determination that came from competitiveness I never knew I had. I am a Neonatal nurse practitioner and work 24 hour shifts which has made some training days more challenging. Jenny always worked with me, fitting in workouts whenever we could. She made that part of it easy… trust me, you have got to have a little flexibility through all of this otherwise you would go completely crazy. My son, Coy, was my biggest cheerleader. Always on the sidelines screaming, “go mama go”. Not to mention he watched every single thing that went into my mouth. He would say, “mama would Jenny say you could eat that?” So, when I was having a weak moment… there he was to catch me. And, my husband Ty has really had to adjust his work schedule these last couple months of training to fit in my morning workout and evening cardio sessions. It has been a team effort. The hardest part of my training has been the diet. I was a sugar addict and had no idea how I was going to quit my Mike & Ike’s and soda pop. It was a slow and gradual process. I would cut a little at a time. Weaning myself over 6 months. Finally, Jenny said “as of July 1st, no more refined sugars.” That was it You have probably noticed that Jenny Lewis is a big part of my story. It is true. When you commit to a goal like this I highly recommend connecting with a professional. You become very close through the transformation, it is inevitable. This person can relate, encourage you, keep you on track, and readjust training when needed… she or he, gets to know your bodies as well as you do.

Special thanks to all of my Elizabeth girls for all of their support and encouragement, and thanks to Lisa who said to me at each track workout, “just think, your competition is doing one more than you.” That always pushed me in a way she may never have known. I always tried to do one more. This is a brief overview of my past 10 months. The journey has been a great and rewarding one. It has been an awesome personal growth experience.
The icing on the cake was coming home from my first figure competition with two second place trophies and one fourth place trophy! Not to mention going from 148 pounds to 120 pounds and from 33% body fat to 17% body fat!
WOW I REALLY DID IT! And so can YOU!

I've known Jenny for 3 years and she is great at helping people reach their fitness goals. She'll push you and help you break through any weight loss plateaus you may encounter. Jenny helped me lose 20 lbs before going on vacation, and then after having two children, she helped me lose 43 lbs over the summer! I did her work outs and diet plan and got great results each time. You will, too!

I joined Stayin Fit and Lovin It w/ Jenny Lewis the middle of June. I was immediately impressed with Jenny's follow thru and willingness to help me on my schedule. She helped me to set a great pace to meet my goals and also helped me set attainable and reasonable goals. I cannot believe how much my body has changed in such a short period of time (and neither can my husband)!! As of October 1st I have lost 28 inches and over 25 pounds....something I know would have been impossible without Jenny!! She is so passionate about helping people transform into the best, most fit version of themselves. I never even considered trying to do an actual fitness competition before, but now with some fine tuning I am actually considering it!! I still wake up in the morning and am surprised that my close fit so loose and that I am actually excited about getting (not having) to exercise!! THANK YOU SO MUCH JENNY!!!

How Jenny has helped you and/or your family to have a healthier life:

For me it started January 2008 I was in a fight doing a ride-along with our local law enforcement and the situation went bad real fast and I had to fight for life which was hard because I was so out shape and very heavy.   My son would see Jenny and her husband all the time in our neighborhood and I finally got the encouragement to visit her and her gym.  I signed up just a member of the gym.  When I saw Jenny working with her clients I thought maybe she could help me and my son kept nagging me to contact her.  I was so embarrassed because I was overweight and not in good shape.  I finally made the call and started working out with her February 2008.  It has been a very exciting year and I just love Jenny.  I could not even tell you all the good qualities about her.  She is very energetic, gets you excited about changing your eating habits, working out, and staying committed to your goals.  Jenny is one trainer who loves her job and is very committed to it and her clients.  When my weight would not go down or stayed the same she knew how to change things up so my body would change and the weight would come off at a steady pace.

Jenny really knows her nutrition.  Jenny does health seminars to show how to eat healthy,   what to buy, how to work out a daily meal plan. She does weekly boot camps in the summer.  I have joined many gyms in my life and had a few trainers but no one comes close to Jenny.  I have never had the success that I have had with Jenny.

I still continue working out with Jenny 1 day a week.  She has me on a strict weekly meal plan, weighs me weekly and pushes me harder every week.  I am still very motivated today as my first day I began working out with her. I go to the gym 6 days a week and love every minute of it.  Before I would go the gym 2-3 days per week because I felt so out of place, uncomfortable and hated working out.  Thanks to Jenny all of that has changed and I look forward to working out daily and with Jenny even though the next day I am real soar.  It is now part of my daily routine.  I have a whole new look on life and do activities with my son that I could never do before.

Jenny is just an amazing trainer.  When I started I was so out of shape and not coordinated like my trainers in the past they would give up on me so I thought Jenny would to.  When I started with Jenny February 2008 I weighed 280 and was in Pants/dress size 24 and shirt size was 3X.  I now weigh 160 pounds and my pants/dress size is 16/18 and shirts are 18. My goal weight is 150. I know now that I can reach that goal very easily with the help and support I receive from Jenny.  She also has a team of competitive girls that do very well and place in the top 3 in their classes on competitions.

How Jenny has helped you and/or your family to have a healthier life:

Jenny Lewis has literally saved my life. Ask my doctor. Jenny is my personal trainer and has made a huge impact on my decision making processes and self esteem. Personal fitness is a life style and takes a tremendous commitment. This commitment includes a change in thinking, diet and exercise. Jenny is the supreme motivator and refused to give up on me. Her enthusiasm is infectious and it inspired me to keep going and accomplish goals. The world needs more people like Jenny Lewis.

Your Story:

I met Jenny Lewis in December of 2007. I signed up for one of her fitness “boot camps” in January of 2008. I was a wreck mentally and physically when I started the program. I was beginning to have medical issues and was extremely over weight. For the most part I was the only male in a group of approximately 12 other woman.

Jenny’s Boot Camp regimen began at 6:00 am in the morning. What a way to start the day. I remember how embarrassed I was when Jenny weighed me and took my measurements. I really didn’t think I was going to survive the early sessions. Talk about system shock.

When I started Jenny’s boot camp in January of 2008 I weighed 295 pounds. I’ll never forget how Jenny went out of her way to give me personal attention and make the exercises challenging. There were times I thought she was trying to kill me. As time went on I really started to enjoy the workouts and what it was doing to my body.

One year and three months later I weigh 215 pounds. This translates into a weight loss of 80 pounds. I’m still training with Jenny and have hopes of some day competing in body building competitions.

It’s difficult not getting emotional about how Jenny has transformed my life. When I look in the mirror I like what I see. This journey has been so incredible and rewarding. I’ll never be able to thank Jenny enough for what she has done for me.

Jenny is a true professional. She knows what it takes to succeed and understands how to motivate people. Jenny truly walks the walk and talks the talk. She’s a competitive figure competitor. Believe me she’s extremely good at what she does. I think the world of Jenny Lewis.
